Privacy Policy
Effective date: October 3, 2026
Who we are
This policy covers the Infamous Bytes iPhone app and the website infamousbytes.com (together, the “Service”). The Service is operated by UpFire Hot Sauce LLC d/b/a Infamous Bytes, a California limited liability company based in Ventura County, California (“we,” “us”). Questions: taj@infamousbytes.com.
What we collect
Account information
When you create an account we collect your email address, the name and username you choose, and optional profile details such as a profile photo, bio, and kitchen level. If you apply for pro verification, we also collect the workplace and position you enter and the proof you choose to provide (for example, a kitchen photo taken in the app or a work-email code). You control whether your workplace and position are shown on your profile.
Content you post
We store the content you create or upload so we can show it to you and, where you choose, to others: recipes, posts and plate photos, comments, Nods, Bytes videos, and the recipes you pin to them. Posts on The Pass and Bytes are visible to other users according to the app’s settings.
Lists and kitchen tools
We store your saved recipes, shopping lists, pantry items, and Event Sheets so they sync across your devices and with people you choose to share a list with.
Camera, microphone, and photos
The app asks your permission before using the camera and microphone (to record Bytes and photos) or your photo library. You can change these permissions at any time in your iPhone’s Settings. We only receive the photos and videos you choose to post or upload.
Calculator screenshots stay on your iPhone
When you give the servings calculator a recipe screenshot, the text is read on your device using Apple’s built-in text recognition. The screenshot is not uploaded to us for reading. If you save the resulting recipe, the recipe text is stored with your account like any other recipe.
Subscriptions
Subscriptions are purchased and billed by Apple through the App Store. We do not receive or store your card or payment details. Apple tells us whether your subscription is active so we can unlock subscriber features.
Website
This website does not use cookies, ads, or tracking scripts. Like any web host, our hosting provider may process basic technical data (such as IP address, browser type, and pages requested) to deliver and secure the site.
How we use information
- To run the Service: create your account, show your content, sync lists, and unlock subscriber features.
- To keep the community safe: review reports, verify pros, and enforce our Terms.
- To respond to you when you contact support.
- To fix problems and improve the app.
Marketing notifications are opt-in only.
Who we share it with
We do not sell your personal data, and we do not share it for advertising. We share information only with:
- Service providers who host and run the Service for us: Supabase (account database, sign-in, and syncing) and Cloudflare (website hosting and storage and delivery of Bytes videos). They process data on our behalf to provide their services.
- Apple, which handles App Store purchases and subscriptions.
- Other users, for content you choose to post publicly.
- Authorities, when required by law or to protect the safety of people or the Service.
Your choices and deleting your account
- You can edit or delete your posts, recipes, and Bytes at any time.
- You can delete your account from inside the app. When you do, we delete your account and the content associated with it from our active systems, except where we must keep limited records to meet legal obligations or resolve disputes.
- You can also email taj@infamousbytes.com to request a copy of your data, a correction, or deletion.
- If you are a California resident, you have rights under California privacy law, including the right to know, correct, and delete your personal information, and the right not to be discriminated against for using them. We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined under California law.
Children
The Service is not for children under 13, and children under 13 may not create an account. If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child under 13, we will delete it. If you believe a child under 13 has an account, please email us.
Security and retention
We use reasonable safeguards, including encrypted connections, to protect your information. No system is perfectly secure. We keep information as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service, and delete it when it is no longer needed.
Changes
If we change this policy, we will update the effective date above and, for significant changes, let you know in the app.
